Winter Olympics Day 5 Results: Stolz Sets Record, Chloe Kim Dominates

American Jordan Stolz set an Olympic speedskating record in the men's 1000 meters during the fifth day of competition at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics on Wednesday (February 10).

Stolz recorded a time of 1:06.28 to win the gold medal, his first in his Olympic debut, at Milano Speed Skating Stadium. The 21-year-old will also compete in the 500m on Saturday (February 14), the 1,500m on February 19 and the mass start on February 21.

“There’s a little less pressure now that I’ve got one gold medal,’’ Stolz said via USA TODAY before later adding, “The pressure was kind of rising towards this one. I could definitely feel it.’’

American figure skaters Madison Chock and Evan Bates took silver in the ice dance final. The husband and wife duo finished second to France's Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron only by a margin of 1.43 points.

Two-time defending snowboard halfpipe gold medalist Chloe Kim dominated her qualifying run on Wednesday, despite tearing a labrum in her left shoulder last month. Kim, who won gold at the the 2018 Pyeongchang and 2022 Beijing Games, landed an inverted backside 720, big switch straight air method, cab 1080 stalefish, frontside 900 and inverted indy 540 for a score of 90.25.
