Former President Joe Biden was seen with a massive head gash during Labor Day weekend in Delaware, which led to concerns about his health.
Biden, 82, had a red wound across the front of his head while greeting people as he left a church in Rehoboth Beach.
“I was a little surprised ’cause it’s a noticeable scar,” said Fred Karger, who filmed and initially shared the video on X Tuesday (September 2), via Inside Edition. “It looks fresh, a little hair combed over the scar. It looks to me like someone who had several basal cells, skin cancers removed from his head.”
A representative for Biden confirmed that the former president recently underwent Mohs surgery, which is a procedure to remove skin cancer cells, in a statement to the New York Post on Thursday (September 4), though it's unclear exactly when the surgery took place. Biden was seen with a bandage when he attended the funeral of former Delaware Gov. and Rep. Mike Castle last month.
The former president also had cancerous skin lesion removed form his chest in February 2023, which was diagnosed as basal cell carcinoma. Biden was also diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer in May, which has since been reported to have spread to his bones and he's still undergoing treatment.
