Longtime Wheel of Fortune letter-turner Vanna White broke her silence on her relationship with longtime host Pat Sajak following his departure from the game show last year.
“We’re friends. We have dinner! Yeah, he’s still in my life,” White told TV Insider at Hulu's Get Real event last week.
Sajak and White are set to reunite on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune later this month, which will feature Joe Manganiello, Tiffany Haddish and Matt Walsh as contestants.
“It’s like slipping into something very comfortable,” White said about working with Sajak again. “I mean that in the best possible way. It’s just comfortable."
Sajak hosted the daytime version of Wheel of Fortune from 1981 to 1989 and the nighttime version from 1983 to 2024. White, a former Miss Georgia USA contestant, has served her role as the game-show's hostess since 1982.
“It was sad for me in a way because [at the time] I didn’t know what the future held,” she added while discussing Sajak's departure. “It was ending an unbelievable era!”
White also addressed new host Ryan Seacrest's preparation to replace Sajak, who hosted the daytime version of Wheel of Fortune from 1981 to 1989 and the nighttime version from 1983 to 2024.
“Ryan did his homework,” White tells TV Insider. “He rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed. He also said to me, ‘I am not replacing Pat Sajak because no one could – ever. I am just stepping in.’ That made me feel good because, as Ryan said, he’s just stepping in – he’s not trying to prove anything.”
