The U.S. Coast Guard is looking for a 20-year-old man who jumped overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in the middle of the Ocean.

The Liberty of the Seas was traveling between Cuba and the Bahamas' Grand Inagua Island around 4 a.m. on Thursday (April 4) when witnesses told the New York Post that a drunk man was arguing with his father when he jumped off the 18-story ship.

"As we were walking from the hot tub back to the elevators, his dad and brother were walking towards us. His dad was fussing at him for being drunk, I guess," Bryan Sims told the outlet. "When we got to them, he said to his dad, 'I'll fix this right now.' And he jumped out the window in front of us all."

"It was insane," Sims added. "It was just surreal."

The crew immediately launched a search and rescue operation for the man, whose identity has not been released.

"The ship's crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort alongside the U.S. Coast Guard, who has taken over the search," a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said in a statement. "Our Care Team is providing support and assistance to the guest's family during this difficult time. For the privacy of the guest and their family, we have no additional details to share."
