A suspect has been taken into custody in the murders of four University of Idaho students, according to a report by Fox News.

The suspect was identified as Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28. He does not attend the University of Idaho. He was taken into custody by local police and FBI in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at 3 a.m. on Friday (December 30). A Hyundai Elantra was taken away from the scene after Kohberger was arrested by a SWAT team.

Kohberger is being held without bond for extradition for charges of first-degree murder filed by the Moscow Police Department and the Latah County Prosecutor's Office.

Investigators have been pouring over tens of thousands of tips as they worked around the clock to identify the person responsible for brutally murdering Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, and Madison Mogen, 21, in their off-campus house on November 13.

Officials said that no information will be released about the investigation until Kohberger appears in Idaho court. Moscow Police Chief James Fry told reporters that investigators have not recovered the murder weapon and did not provide any information about a potential motive.

Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said that the investigation remains ongoing and encouraged people to continue submitting tips.

"Please get that information out there. Please ask the public, anyone, who knows about this individual, to come forward, call the tip line, report anything you know about him to help the investigators, and eventually, our office and the court system understand fully everything there is to know about not only the individual, but what happened, and why," he said.
