Director Ryan Coogler's Black Panther didn't just win the box office this weekend. It shattered records.
Marvel's latest superhero feature raked in the big bucks this weekend earning about $201.7 million according to early box-office estimates. Another $170 million was earned internationally, bringing the three-day total to more than $371 million.
That tops previous big February winners like the $132 million earned by Deadpool back in 2016. Black Panther also became the highest-grossing movie of all time by a black director, and one featuring an almost entirely black cast.
Black Panther didn't just earn a ton of money, it also earned a lot of great reviews with the movie receiving a rare "A+" from CinemaScore and a 97 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie is expected to end up with the fifth biggest opening weekend of all time, coming in ahead of another Marvel movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
