People Are Freaking out About 'Slaves' in 'Wheel of Fortune' Backdrop

INJO'Wheel of Fortune' has had an incredible run as one of America's favorite and most iconic game shows.

And in order to keep the audience interested, over the years, hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White have introduced a number of fun “themed” weeks.

Past themes have included:

  • College Road Trip
  • Fun and Fit
  • Great American Cities

The “Southern Charm” week episodes initially aired in March of 2017, but it wasn't until the reruns hit the airwaves in June that people took notice of something in one of the background shots.

And it wasn't at all “charming”:

But there's just one problem: color photography as we know it did not exist until 1886, over two decades after the Civil War (and slavery in America) ended. Even then, colors were muted rather than vibrant, and long exposure times required that the subjects be still for some time in order to get a proper image.
